Walter Hillenbrand, Germany

Walter Hillenbrand, father of the Hillenbrand “dynasty” and up to now the best male member of the German national team in crossbow field. He was world champion in 1992 (New Zealand) and silver medals in the world championships single he gained in 1990 (Portugal) and in 1994 (Germany). In 1996 he gained bronze medals in Taiwan, in 2000 in New Zealand and in 2002 in Croatia. He was European champion in 1989 (Great Britain), in 1997 (Portugal) and in 1999 (Croatia). He gained silver medals in 1993 (Great Britain) and in 1995 (Portugal) as well as a bronze medal in 2001 (Czech Republic). He gained 6 single medals altogether in world championships and 6 in European championships and several times he set world records in crossbow field. He said good-bye to contests as member of the German national team in the European championship in 2005 (the Netherlands) after having spent more than 17 years of active crossbow field shooting and after having gained 27 medals (single and as a team) in world and European championships.
